The 21st-Century Way to Ruin Something You Don't Like, Call It "AI Generated."

21st-century witch hunts look a bit different, don't they?

In our digital age, accusations of using AI feel like modern-day witchcraft allegations. Imagine John Proctor today, sighing heavily:

"I speak my own sins; I cannot judge another."

— Arthur Miller, The Crucible

Yet here we are, ready to cast someone into the algorithmic fire over a suspicion!

And of course, the timeless truth rings clearer than ever:

"We are only what we always were, but naked now."

— Arthur Miller, The Crucible

So tell me, have you ever been falsely accused of AI wizardry?

I posted that in June 2025 on my social media hoping the number of people accusing me of using generative AI would calm down, but it hasn't. So I feel forced to start this running blog so that I can send people to one place with all the accusations made against me.

I would also like to remind readers that I have dyslexia which means that I naturally can write things incorrectly, skip words, make grammatical mistakes, write IGC like ICG and Mircosoft Word grammar check or my human editor who works so hard as I make so many mistakes isn't going to pick up everything.

I also speak a few languages and when I wrote, My Human Pet, I was living in Zurich, so my word choice was influenced by German. That doesn't make the book AI. In fact, AI would probably never make those kinds of mistakes.

When My Human Pet was published I was accused of being a non-native speaker.

Now ironically I am being accused of using AI.

I even have a book about my fears about an AI singularity published in 2021:

This is from a post I felt I had to make on April 21st 2025 as too many people were accusing me of using AI for my covers.

I’ve noticed a growing number of people questioning whether my book covers are AI-generated. I want to assure everyone I pay my book designers well for original and professional artwork that reflect my stories.

I’d encourage readers to check the copyright page of books (available on Amazon storefront pages, just click 'read a sample' under the book cover) before drawing conclusions; usually you’ll see the names of our book designers there.

This particular question was in reference to "My Human Wife." The kneeling cover model was originally poolside in a bikini (because of this Amazon finds this cover too sexy to run ads on) and another cover model for the head. However, it fits the book so I keep it. And as is common with my books, there's a debate as to whether it's a romance or science fiction with sex and I think the cover reflects that too.

Something that could have only been accomplished with a talented book cover designer.

It’s disheartening to see talented designers’ efforts get dismissed as AI.

Most designers combine different photographs of models to get the right look for the book covers.

My extra on my Amazon Storefront is also a bikini cover model taken from the poolside:

Here is another picture I sent to my cover designer that I wanted on My Prized Pet:

She is not AI. This (maybe too photoshopped) model has a full photo shoot you can purchase on Adobe taken by a real photographer. As you can see, I screenshot this from my Adobe Library which I have spent a lot of money buying promo and most of it before Adobe allowed AI generated material. Adobe does specifically say when something is AI and what is terrible is that it does allow for generated versions of real pictures, which I have never used.

Feel free to go to Adobe and check my work.

Here is another picture I sent to my cover designer that I wanted for Briar's hair in My Wild Pet:

Here is the cover model I used for the cover of My Human Pet. Please feel free to check this out on Dreamstime, it's a whole spread of this woman with a snake.

It's very sexy.

I shouldn't have to prove that I am not using AI but I am just a small indie author and if don't defend myself, the mob will destroy everything I worked for with false accusations. No one making these accusations even checks if these pictures or videos can be found on big sites like Adobe stock images and who made them, which is a shame because real photographers and artists worked on all of these things.

It's almost becoming impossible to distinguish AI from real photographs in my opinion. So therefore it becomes easy for people who don't like something to try and destroy an author, artists, etc. by accusing that them of AI.

Authors shouldn't have to show every piece of their marketing to prove to readers they are worthy of writing and selling books. But here we are in the 21st century. And the witch hunt is on.

Now I am accused of writing "AI porn" which is ridiculous (and I think they meant writing porn with AI not having sex with Chat GPT). Everyone knows that ChatGPT and its friends are like plastic action figures when it comes to biological sexual needs, like Barbie and Ken dolls, they can rub up against one another but there's no pleasurable friction.

And let's be honest, almost every comment I get like this is from someone who doesn't like my books. Doesn't like I am writing science fiction romance. In their minds, "real" science fiction characters must be, like plastic action figures when it comes to biological needs, unless it's Captain Kirk because for some reason he gets a free pass and can bang any woman at any time.

But me writing sex and real science fiction, these people lose their minds. Yet male authors who write sex and about the human condition are branded geniuses, women are writing "porn." I have written a whole blog about this if you are interested:

And what's the best way they can attack me now? Hit me where it hurts? Accuse me of using generative AI for my writing without any knowledge of how AI works. It's not impressive but unfortunately most people part of the mob in witch hunts aren't looking for logic or what's morally right, they just get a kick out of being in the mob itself. It's a proven psychological phenomenon and even has a name, deindividuation. And it's a toss up whether or not these people attacking me are getting a kick out of it for being in the AI mob or just know that this is a good way to cancel someone they don't like, or it's a bit of both.

So now I have this running blog so I can defend my credibility and where I stand on these issues.

This is a screenshot of comments from my Instagram. Here you see a man who has a private profile commenting on someone else's positive comment.

She said, "i think i found the right place."

He commented: "for ai written rape fantasy?"

Then she doubts: "It's AI?!"

And suddenly rumors get started even if they are UNFOUNDED. Sorry I don’t have any videos of me typing out the book itself which wouldn’t even matter, I know these people aren’t looking for the truth. They just don't like what I am writing.

Now I am back to what made them stop on my post to begin with. These people accusing me of using AI for my covers, etc. don't like what I am writing.

Can we please stop the shaming of women for liking books with women's sexual agency?

And science fiction readers who think there is no sex in space, newsflash, all human beings need to have sex to reproduce and for women who keep the human race going at great expense to our physical and emotional selves, sex and having babies is a big part of our humanity so I will continue to write about this. If you don't want to read my books. Do not read them. They are not hurting you. No one is forcing you to read them. So scroll past.

I will not allow men to casually call my writing "AI porn."

As someone who sees the world through dyslexic eyes I prefer audiobooks. So, when it comes to my own books, I go out of my way to hire human narrators, who I think can best bring my characters to life.

And just like with vibrators, I think you can program a machine to do it, but it's never the same as the real thing.

Character Art

Hiring an artist to draw character art is very expensive for authors and the really good artists get booked out. Just in case you didn't know. Most often, I choose narrators over character art.

Instagram handle is @rosieart_

What other authors do is not my concern.

I believe that geniuses of their craft, no matter how good the technology, they will always tower above the rest of us. And there is no better example in my mind than the cameras on our smart phones. We all have access to good cameras and videos, yet I rarely see one of my friends snap a photo or make a video that is at a professional level, and none that are truly moving or awe-inspiring by the angle, lightening or artistry alone.

A lot of us still pay professional photographers for our weddings and family pictures. There's a reason for that. Yet, we all theoretically could take amazing photographs, as people no longer need to understand lighting and F-stops to take a picture. digital cameras and photoshop changed everything, but it doesn't matter, most of us don't have the eye to be professional photographers, because to do that you need talent, handwork at the craft, and skill.

I believe that's the same with AI art and AI writing, etc. You cannot sit down and ask Chat to write a you a good book based on a prompt when you don't have the talent for writing nor the time understanding the craft and the skill to execute it.

The bottom line is that I HIRE real artists, narrators, editors, and work hard to write my own books. I shouldn't have to waste time defending my work against this witch hunt.
